The Make-it-Match™ System provides the tools, the tapes, and the techniques to help flooring professionals create EXACT MATCHING trims, transitions, profiles, and other accessory items quickly and cleanly for rigid core vinyl plank flooring projects ONSITE.
- Acclimate or warm the rigid core vinyl plank to room temperature.
- Turn the plank face down. Using a straight edge, score the plank at approximately 2 inches from the end of the plank. Then break along the score leaving the vinyl wear layer intact. Turn the plank over and use this 2-inch piece as a pull handle to start the delamination.
Peel back about 3 inches of material and cut the pull handle loose or peel the wear layer off of the pull handle. Place the delaminated end of the material into the specially designed slot of the Plank Skinner™. Tuck the end of the material under the shaft of the Plank Skinner. With the drill in the forward position, hold the end of the Plank Skinner shaft closed while starting the drill. Control the speed of the peel based on the thickness of the wear layer. Very thin wear layers should be peeled at a slower speed than thicker wear layers and may require a little heat from a heat gun.- Once the wear layer has been removed, keep tension on the rolled-up material with one hand while running the drill in reverse. After it has been reverse rolled, slide it off the Plank Skinner; this will ensure that the memory is broken allowing the skin to lay flat while you wrap it around profiles and trims.
Wrap the desired flooring transition with MatchWrap™ double-sided adhesive tape. Place the delaminated wear layer face down. Remove the release paper from the flooring transition. Place the flooring transition face down on the wear layer. Then using a heat gun warm and conform the wear layer to the shape of the transition. Then cut away any excess material.
The result is a perfectly matching transition and a fully satisfied customer! Why wait to coordinate when you can Make-it-Match!
